Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering

Scholarships

The program offers a limited number of scholarships, linked to research projects and standard funding agencies (CAPES, CNPq, and FAPEMIG), as well as scholarships from companies. To be eligible for a scholarship, students must dedicate themselves fully to the activities of the program. Scholarship selection is based on criteria defined in the Scholarship Call Notices.

Graduate students receiving scholarships are required to engage in teaching activities (teaching assistantship) in undergraduate courses, assisting professors in theoretical and laboratory courses, mentoring undergraduate research projects, developing educational materials, providing tutoring in courses, and more.

The selection and classification of candidates for scholarships in the Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering at UNIFEI are the responsibility of the Program’s Scholarship Committee. Among the research and graduate funding agencies that frequently provide scholarships to students in the program are: CAPES, CNPq, and FAPEMIG (Foundation for Research Support of the State of Minas Gerais). In addition to these, scholarships may also be allocated by companies within specific research projects.

Scholarship amounts can be checked directly with each funding agency:

  • CAPES
  • CNPq
  • FAPEMIG

International students may apply for scholarships specifically designated for them. In this case, interested parties must first contact the Brazilian Embassy or Consulate in their home country before traveling to Brazil. For students awarded scholarships, they are required to complete a teaching assistantship totaling a minimum of 45 hours for the Master’s program and 90 hours for the PhD program.
